2026 Session Dates:

Payment Deadline:

All deadlines are at 5:00PM Pacific Time (PDT) unless otherwise indicated.

Starting June 19, payment is due immediately for all sessions to avoid drops for non-payment or financial holds. If there is an outstanding BruinBill balance, it may result in all courses being drops and/or financial holds.

For UCLA students only, if you enroll and then drop to 0 units without re-enrolling starting April 15, there is a non-refundable $175 processing fee.

Dismissed UCLA students and UCLA students graduating in Spring 2026 or earlier will be coded as visiting students. 

Students who are waitlisted for a course must also submit full payment to avoid being dropped. The student will be automatically dropped and refunded should a spot not become available by the first Friday of the course.  

UCLA and other UC financial aid students may be eligible for a payment extension in the event aid does not disburse by the payment deadline.

International Student I-20 Application Deadline:

All deadlines are at 5:00PM Pacific Time (PDT) unless otherwise indicated.

Note: International students are defined as students that live abroad AND do not currently have citizenship status or a visa that permits studying in the U.S. Please visit the International Student page for more information.

Add Deadline:

Please visit the Schedule of Classes to look through our available courses and find important information such as class meeting time, mode of instruction, number of spaces remaining, and any course restrictions. If you are a high school student, you must choose courses from our High School Approved Course List.

After the add deadline of Friday of week 1 of the Summer Course, Summer Online, or Summer Intensive, students may only enroll with consent from the course instructor through a PTE* (permission to enroll) number or an authorized signature on a Student Update Form emailed to info@summer.ucla.edu.

After the courses’ session has ended, UCLA students must petition with their main advising units. Non-UCLA students must petition with Summer Sessions office.

*PTE numbers are limited and can only be given by the instructor or department

Refund Deadline:

The refund deadline for Summer Courses, Summer Online, and Summer Intensives is determined by the course’s session and whether the course is impacted or non-impacted. Please note that the $350 registration fee for visiting students ($175 registration fee for visiting UC students) and $175 processing fee (UCLA students who drop all summer courses starting April 15) is non-refundable at all times.

Drop Deadline:

The refund deadline and the drop deadline are not the same for most summer courses. Therefore, it is possible to drop a course and still be held liable for the full cost of the class. Refer to the refund policy before dropping.

Courses may not be dropped once the final exam, paper, or project is attempted or submitted. Dropping before the deadlines below will not result in transcript notation.

*Dropping non-impacted courses after the MyUCLA drop deadline (within the last two weeks of the session) will require a Drop Request Form submitted by the deadlines listed in the final column above.

After the deadlines above, students may only drop a course via petition. UCLA students must submit a petition to their UCLA advising unit. Non-UCLA students must submit a petition to UCLA Summer Sessions. If the petition is approved, there will be a notation on the transcript.

Grading Basis Change Deadline:

All deadlines are at 5:00PM Pacific Time (PDT) unless otherwise indicated.

After the above deadline, students may only change the grade type via petition. UCLA students must submit a petition to their UCLA advising unit. Non-UCLA students must submit a petition to UCLA Summer Sessions.

Please submit full payment on MyUCLA under the “Finances and Jobs” tab and then “BruinBill” no later than 5pm on June 1. Make sure to account for payment processing time in advance.

Note: RES PRC 97XD fees for SCIP+ students will be added on May 16. Any charges added to the BruinBill after the payment deadline are due immediately to avoid being dropped.

Refund Deadline:

All deadlines are at 5:00PM Pacific Time (PST) unless otherwise indicated.

Students may drop their program by accessing their registration until June 15, after this date there will be no refunds for the program fee.

If you plan to drop a course, the refund for unit fees depends on if your course is impacted or not. Impacted courses are high in demand and have an earlier deadline than non-impacted courses.

Additionally, courses may not be dropped once the final exam, paper, or project is attempted or submitted. Dropping before the deadlines below will not result in transcript notation.

The deadline to change grading basis is only applicable for a course that offers optional grading type (letter grade OR Pass/No Pass).
